Subject: Mono Basin Clearinghouse Updates for July-September 2005

Dear MLC Staff and Friends,
Short update this quarter. Not much new on the Mono Basin Clearinghouse (www.monobasinresearch.org) from the busy summer season. Look for more in the next update (around Dec.-Jan), including some new research listings such as the Scripps hydrology monitoring and University of Buffalo tephra database for Mono-Inyo Craters.

RAW DATA
http://www.monobasinresearch.org/data/
Lee Vining Weather Summaries for June, July, August 2005
Except for July, it was a cool summer:
June was the coldest in ten years and the windiest since 2001
July was the driest and most-consistently-warm (the highest low max temp) since 2000
August had the coldest maximum and minimum temperatures since 1999

Riparian Plantings and Survival Count Summary
Updated to include information about April 2005 cottonwood planting and
August 22, 2005 survival count
21 alive
2 bent/broken but with green leaves
6 dead
15 not found (probably washed away)
21/44 = 48% survival (had we planted higher/clipped the tops, less would have broken and washed away)
23/29 = 80% of the ones I was able to find are currently green
