Subject: Mono Basin Clearinghouse Updates for 10/4/01

Dear Friends,

SEPTEMBER WEATHER SUMMARY FOR LEE VINING
Of note, Sept. 2001 was the warmest (looking at mean, lowest, and average low temps) September since our internet weather station has kept records beginning in 1996. High temperatures were about average. Also, we had a 69 mph wind gust that was the highest recorded this early in the season since at least 1996. Since trees still had leaves, a few poplars toppled in Mono City. See http://www.monobasinresearch.org/data/weather.htm

NEW LINKS
SCIRUS - A scientific information only search engine. I'm not too impressed, judging from which of MLC's pages came up for various searches, but it might be useful or improve so I've added a link to it. ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT INTERNET RESEARCH REGISTER - One of the world's largest registers of research projects on the environment. Submit your research! PHYTOPLANKTON IMAGE LIBRARY - from Michael R. Martin, Cedar Eden Environmental, LLC LIMITS OF ACCEPTABLE CHANGE: A Framework for Managing National Protected
Areas: Experiences from the United States

GIS DATA
Talon Associates has a good resources page on their Website we now link to. And it turns out that some contact info for Mono County GIS information was incorrect. See the link and the corrected information at http://www.monobasinresearch.org/gis/.

REPORTS AND STUDIES ONLINE
Reasonable Further Progress Report for the Mono Basin PM-10 State Implementation Plan, September 2001. This 27-page document provides a progress report on air quality trends in the Mono Basin federal PM-10 nonattainment area since the adoption of the Mono Basin PM-10 State Implementation Plan in May 1995. Great charts and graphs and listing of air quality data since 1995. Special thanks to Duane Ono for providing this report in electronic form. See http://www.monobasinresearch.org/onlinereports/.
