Subject: Mono Basin Clearinghouse updates for 1/31/01

Dear friends,

CURRENT RESEARCH !!!
The main additions since November to monobasinresearch.org have been on the current research page, found at http://www.monobasinresearch.org/research/,
where there are now links for more information on most listed studies/projects. Where available, I've linked to Web Pages that describe the research mentioned, and otherwise I've linked to Web Pages that describe the researcher. In a few cases I was not able to find any Web Pages to link to that describe the researcher or their research.

As promised last time, there is a link to more about Dave Herbst's alkali fly research, written by his assistant Paul Levine and with a GIS map of their monitoring sites GPS-ed and created by volunteer Kelly Runyon who was in the Mono Basin last spring.

A few of the links deserve special mention:
A beautiful color map on Sally MacIntyre's Website showing ground topography under Mono Lake; A 1999 paper on boundary mixing in Mono Lake, also on Sally's Website Quite a bit of photos and info on Catherine Toft's research in the dunes northeast of the lake

NEW LINKS
We have added a few new links to other useful Websites. Links include: UC Berkeley's Digital Library Project is amazing. CalPhotos Database, CalFlora database, and much more. See http://www.monobasinresearch.org/links/index.html for links to search results specific to Mono County in both CalFlora and CalPhotos databases. Also from Berkeley's Digital Library are the 1993 Mono County General Plan and Mono County's Zoning and Development Code. You can find links to these legal resources here: http://www.monobasinresearch.org/legal/

MONO LAKE COMMITTEE PHOTOPOINT PROJECT
We now have a page (http://www.monolake.org/photopoint) briefly describing the Mono Lake Committee's new photopoint project, which will enlist volunteers to photograph the same site in the Mono Basin over time. We will be adding the first of these photos to the Mono Basin Clearinghouse in the near future. If you have suggestions for sites or would like to volunteer, contact Lisa Cutting.

UNSUBSCRIBE
If at any time you decide that you no longer wish to receive these occasional updates about additions to this Website, please e-mail unsubscribe@monobasinresearch.org and ask to be removed from the list. If you know of someone that wants to receive these updates, tell them to e-mail us.

Thanks for your interest in Mono Basin research,
Greg
