Subject: Mono Basin EIR added to monobasinresearch.org

Dear friends,

EIR IS ONLINE
Thanks to super volunteer Mona Kremer, we've added the Mono Basin EIR to the Mono Basin Clearinghouse Website, www.monobasinresearch.org. Jones & Stokes generously provided us with a CD-ROM containing all the recoverable files (from floppy disk) in Adobe PDF format, which are now available on the Website. Many tables are also included, however figures are not yet available. In the future, we may scan in the figures and missing tables and sections, however this will take some time.

ABOUT THE EIR
The Mono Basin EIR is a comprehensive study of the Mono Basin finished in 1993 and used by the State Water Resources Control Board in preparing Decision 1631, the order requiring Mono Lake restoration and restrictions on DWP's water diversions. The document is huge: 5 volumes make up the draft and final. For more about the EIR, see http://www.monolake.org/library/profiles/eir.htm.

SEARCH TIPS
If you would like to search the EIR for a word or phrase, use the general search box found on the Website, then from the results choose one of the 4 volumes of the EIR, then within your browser from the Edit menu select "find on page" and type in your search term again. If the term is in a title or subheading, you will find it. Click on the link to the PDF file and from within the Acrobat Reader toolbar choose the binoculars icon and type in your search term once again.

OTHER NEW ADDITIONS
We are working on adding even more resources to this growing Website, and will notify you as new documents are added. Super volunteer Cole Hawkins is in the process of cataloging our research library in a database, and once the process is finished we add it to the Website. You can help us too! If you have any reports or studies on the Mono Basin in electronic form, or know of how we can acquire them in electronic form, please email additions@monobasinresearch.org. Any suggestions regarding the Website are welcome as well. We are working to spread the word about this increasingly valuable resource, so please tell friends and researchers about the Website.

UNSUBSCRIBE
If at any time you decide that you no longer wish to receive these occasional updates about additions to this Website, please e-mail updates@monobasinresearch.org and ask to be removed from the list. When you do so, you will receive an automatic response welcoming you to the list, and can disregard it. We will notify you when you are removed soon after.

Thanks for your interest in Mono Basin research,
Greg
