  • Total individuals counted:  4502

  • Total number of species observed this year: 49  

  • CALIFORNIA GULLS and EARED GREBES not recorded due to ongoing census efforts or research

  • Entire shoreline of Mono Lake surveyed (including DeChambeau Ponds) EXCEPT small stretch of shoreline along Tufa Shoals across from Gaines’ Island. 

  • Weather: breezy, partly cloudy, (upper 50s—lower 60s F)

  • Lake Level: 6384.6 (4/25/00)

  • Participants:  Rosie Beach, Bea Cooley, Jean Dillingham, Kathy Duvall, Joel Ellis, Carolyn Gann, Eliot Gann, Noah Hamm, Chris Howard, Phil Kiddoo, Dave Marquart, Bartshe Miller, Craig Roecker, Erin Shafto, Derrick Vocelka, and Mary Vocelka

Other notable sightings:
50 American Pipits between County Park and Black Point Parking
3 active Osprey nests observed with one new nesting location at South Tufa (Navy Beach nest not active)
